College of Pharmacists of Manitoba Pharmacy Jurisprudence Modules
The College of Pharmacists of Manitoba (CPhM) Pharmacy Jurisprudence modules provide a strong foundation in provincial and federal pharmacy jurisprudence.
These self-study modules must be completed by all new CPhM applicants in preparation to attempt the jurisprudence (JP) exam.

- Module 9: Complaints and Discipline
- Module 10: Patient Safety
- Module 11: Practice Scenarios A
- Module 12: Practice Scenarios B
These modules are intended to expose you to foundational themes in pharmacy practice, and are not a comprehensive education on Pharmacy Law in Manitoba. You are encouraged to review the resources cited throughout to ensure you are familiar with the documents. You are not expected to memorize the references, but to review and reflect on their content.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of these modules, learners will be able to:
- Describe the federal and provincial legislation that govern the practice of pharmacy in Manitoba.
- Articulate the importance of regulation, and the purpose of the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba.
- Reflect on ethical principles that guide pharmacy practice, and apply the Code of Ethics.
- Define the practice of pharmacy in Manitoba, describe the scope of practice of pharmacy professionals (including expanded scopes) and other pharmacy personnel, and compare it to the scope of other regulated health professionals.
- Examine the responsibility and accountability expected of pharmacy professionals for the protection of narcotic and controlled substances in pharmacy practice.
- Describe the legislated complaints and discipline processes when complaints arise against pharmacy professionals and pharmacy owners in Manitoba.
- Describe Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) as it relates to patient safety, and articulate the expectations and responsibilities of pharmacy professionals to protect and enhance patient safety.
- Interpret and apply pharmacy legislation and practice standards to common challenges faced in pharmacy practice in Manitoba.
