Short clinical crowns present a common challenge in modern dentistry, requiring careful consideration and a multidisciplinary approach to ensure optimal esthetic and functional outcomes. This seminar aims to provide dental professionals with a comprehensive understanding of the management options available for short clinical crowns, focusing on the key disciplines of prosthodontics, orthodontics, and periodontics.
The seminar will begin by exploring the various etiological factors contributing to short clinical crowns, including tooth wear, dental trauma, and altered passive eruption. Participants will gain insight into the importance of accurate diagnosis and treatment planning to achieve predictable and aesthetic results.
Prosthodontics will be a focal point of discussion, as we examine the application of crown lengthening procedures, the use of provisional restorations, and the selection of appropriate materials for post, core, and crown fabrication. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the principles guiding prosthodontic interventions to improve both function and aesthetics.
Orthodontic approaches for managing short clinical crowns will be explored, showcasing techniques such as intrusion and extrusion mechanics to optimize crown height. This segment will underscore the collaborative efforts between prosthodontics and orthodontics in achieving optimal treatment outcomes.
Periodontics will be a key component of the seminar, emphasizing the significance of periodontal health in crown lengthening procedures. Attendees will gain insights into surgical techniques, including gingivectomy, gingivoplasty, and osseous recontouring, to create a harmonious gingival architecture.
Throughout the seminar, clinical examples will be used to illustrate the decision-making process and highlight the interdisciplinary nature of short clinical crown management. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in discussions with experienced clinicians, fostering a dynamic learning environment.
By attending this seminar, dental professionals will be equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively diagnose, treatment plan, and execute a variety of management options for short clinical crowns, ultimately enhancing their ability to provide comprehensive and patient-centered care.
