The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba (CPSM) engages practicing physicians to perform chart audits for a variety of reasons. This work is central to the CPSM mandate of ensuring safe medical care for Manitobans.

Why be an auditor? You would be contributing to your profession, you would be giving your colleagues a fair assessment by a peer and you will both learn something in the process. It is a change of pace from the normal routine. Physicians interested in doing this type of work should consider attending the Auditor Training Workshop.

The workshop will consist of two to three hours of required pre-workshop self learning, followed by a half day live online session involving small group interactive work.

Objectives:

At the end of this workshop, the participant should be able to:

  • identify the mandate of the CPSM, and the types of audits carried out by the CPSM
  • conduct a chart audit using the supplied tools
  • conduct a chart-stimulated recall discussion
  • provide feedback to an audited physician

Agenda:

Pre-workshop self learning

  • Medical Record Keeping – What does CPSM require (30 mins)
