Managing Time and Disruptions (Small Group Teaching Series) – June 16, 2021
Much teaching in health professions education occurs in small groups. As a way to promote active learning and engagement, small groups engender learning outcomes and foster community building for students. Using teaching strategies specific to small group contexts can help to maximize their effectiveness. In this series we will cover how to develop an effective small group session and how to manage some common challenges. Although participants are encouraged to attend all three workshops, workshops can be taken individually.
After completing this workshop you will be able to
- apply strategies for managing time in small group teaching,
- proactively identify possible disruptions in the small group and plan for them, and
- manage these disruptions during the session.
Facilitator: Ben Collins and Chelsea Jalloh
