Description:
This year is the 27th anniversary of Bug Day. This year, like every year, there will be diverse collection of topics but, the primary focus will be infection prevention and control, infectious diseases and public health. A specific focus this year will be the immunocompromised host, either from patients receiving immunosuppressive therapy or those who have infection with the human immunodeficiency virus. In addition, we will address a few remaining issues pertaining to COVID-19 to help wrap up the audience’s understanding of the COVID-19 pandemic. We will use the evaluation (comments, suggestions) to help us formulate the strategy for Bug Day 2024.
Overall Program Objectives:
By attending this program, the attendee will be able to:
- State the burden of infection with human immunodeficiency virus on the prairies (Manitoba and Saskatchewan)
- State the major accomplishments of public health in helping to keep the population healthy
- State how the immunocompromised host is vulnerable to infection.
