Advancing Equity through Teaching and Learning with Visiting Professor Dr. Jerry Maniate – April 9, 2024
Sponsored by the Office of Innovation and Scholarship in Medical Education, and the Office of Equity, Access, and Participation
The WHO states that “health equity is achieved when everyone can attain their full potential for health and well-being”. What role does the health professions education system play in exploring and addressing this in our communities? Can we leverage our training programs to enable and empower individuals to address inequities that they identify in the health system? Through this session we will explore practical steps that we will need to implement at the individual and organizational level to support the advancement of equity.
Learning Objectives:
At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Describe the benefits of diversity in the health system.
- Create inclusive and accountable spaces for learning.
- Train learners to understand and address inequities that they identify in the health system.
