Description

Baby Steps 2023 will explore interprofessional best practices and promising models of prenatal, birth, and post-partum care for people who use substances.

This event is presented by Manitoba iMaples, an interprofessional group that is passionate about clinical care, advocacy, research, and education related to supporting people who use substances before, during, and after pregnancy.

 

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this event participants should be able to have:

  • Increased understanding of the lived/living experiences and support needs of pregnant people who use substances.
  • Increased knowledge of best practices and promising models of care during pregnancy, birth, and post-partum for people who use substances, including emerging research, clinical approaches, and community service models.
  • Increased understanding of interprofessional collaboration care approaches.
  • Increased awareness of the importance of trauma-informed, culturally grounded, and non-stigmatizing care approaches.

This event addresses the CanMEDS competencies of: Medical Expert, Collaborator, Communicator, Professional, Health Advocate and Scholar.

Other health and social services professionals: $65
Residents/students: $30

As Per CPD Medicine policy, the department requires any refund or cancelation request to be submitted in writing up to fourteen (14) days prior to the program or session start date . A $50 administrative fee will be withheld to cover transaction and administrative costs. Refund or cancelation requests made less than fourteen (14) days notice may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
