Critiquing Educational Research – December 13, 2017
Description:
Whether you teach in a classroom or a clinical setting, educational research can inform your teaching practices and help create a more effective learning environment. Critiquing research is an important first step in this process. In this workshop, we will review the key elements of a critique and practice critiquing peer-reviewed educational research articles, with a focus on qualitative research. Developing your critiquing skills will also help you provide more effective peer review reports and feedback on student or trainee research on health professions education.
Learning Objectives:
– outline the value of and reasons for conducting a critique of educational research
– describe the key elements included in a critique of quantitative and qualitative research
– critique a peer-reviewed, published qualitative research study on health professions education and communicate the findings of the critique.
