Description:

Metrics have long been used as tools for identifying quality scholarly research. Researchers have often used metrics to inform publication decisions and assess a number of research-related outputs. We have come a long way from the early days of journal-level impact factors, and research metrics have been undergoing a rapid evolution of late.

Attendees will be presented with a brief overview of metrics and the h-index, as well as the variety of library-supported tools that enable researchers to protect their scholarly identities, consolidate research activities, and contribute to accurate reporting of individual indices. A demonstration of Scopus and SciVal will be provided.
