How to be a Great Mentor – February 11, 2025 (Zoom)
Mentorship is a professional working alliance with which individuals work together to support the personal and professional growth, development, and success of the mentee. Mentoring of residents and other learners can be a rewarding experience, but it is often more than mentorship, with the mentor playing multiple roles. Thus, while being an effective mentor can be rewarding, it can also be complex. This workshop will explore features of effective mentoring in clinical education, how coaching and mentoring can occur within mentoring relationships, and how to integrate evidence-based practices into mentoring practices.
Learning Objectives:
• Describe the features of effective clinical mentoring
• Discuss the role of coaching and advising in mentorship
• Integrate evidence-based approaches into your mentorship practice
Facilitator: Dr. Joanne Hamilton, Director, Office of Innovation and Scholarship in Medical Education, Max Rady College of Medicine
