Description

This half-day lecture, for University o Manitoba Faculty of Dentistry Students only, will provide students with an introduction to Prosthetically Driven Treatment Planning for a single tooth implant restoration with an emphasis on a full Digital Workflow. The content will focus on diagnostic digital data collection, 3D planning, guided surgery, digital impression taking, and delivery of a digitally produced custom CAD/CAM restoration.

Goals

  • Gain proficiency in patient selection, diagnosis, and treatment planning
  • Understand the importance of 3D prosthetically driven treatment planning from both surgical and restorative perspectives.
  • Emphasis on 3D digital diagnostics, planning, and workflows
  • Understand the required restorative principals, techniques, components, and tooling

Objectives

  • Overview of Digital 3D Diagnostic tools
  • Importance of site development in preparation to support proper restorative implant positioning
  • Overview of Digital 3D implant planning for guided surgery
  • Fundamentals in implant selection and restorative positioning
  • Overview of a digital impression workflow
  • Overview of digital restoration design and material selection

Speakers

Dr. John Tsourounakis

Dr. John M. Tsourounakis graduated from Aristotle University in Greece with the degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery in 2008. He completed his Masters Degree in Health Care Management from the University of New Orleans, College of Business, in 2011, graduating with distinction with an award in academic excellence. He then obtained his specialty Certificate in Periodontics in 2012, and in 2013 he completed a postgraduate Fellowship in Dental Implantology, from Louisiana State University, School of Dentistry in New Orleans. Dr. Tsourounakis maintains a private practice at Southwest Specialty Group, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and is a clinical instructor at the graduate periodontics program of University of Manitoba, College of Dentistry. He is a Diplomate of the American board of Periodontology and a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada.

Dr. Jose Viquez

Dr. Viquez graduated in 2010 from Universidad Latina de Costa Rica as a general dentist.  He joined his father in private practice briefly before moving to the US to further his education in prosthodontics.  In 2013, he received a certificate in advanced prosthodontics after completing a 3-year residency program at the School of Dentistry, Louisiana State University and a fellowship in oral surgery.  Dr. Viquez is a fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and completed implant surgical training at the Misch International Institute.  Dr. Viquez is currently in private practice in Winnipeg at the Southwest Specialty Group.

Registrants can receive a refund provided they give written notice no later than fourteen (14) days prior to the event. An administration fee will be retained to cover staff costs of processing refunds and other costs associated with cancellations.

The University of Manitoba reserves the right to cancel or postpone any educational program due to an insufficient number of registrations. The decision to cancel will normally be made at least fourteen (14) days prior to the program date. Exceptions do apply. Each registrant will be notified by email and provided with a full refund of all registration costs.
