Leadership in health professions education requires a different skill the corporate world. Academic health sciences environments are both collegial and hierarchical, have competing missions, and function as complex adaptive systems.  Using a teaching cases from a clinical context, this workshop will help prepare participants with the knowledge and tools to lead teams in our complex and challenging clinical teaching environments.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Differentiate between types of team (shared) leadership
  2. Describe collaborative team behaviors to support shared decision-making
  3. Explain barriers and challenges to effective collaboration and teamwork
  4. Apply shared leadership practices to educational and clinical contexts
