Need to brush up on your record keeping skills? Looking to hone your charting to maximize efficiency while addressing regulatory standards? Join us for this interactive workshop to take your recording keeping to a new level.

Workshop topics include:

Outline of college requirements | Samples of notes and charts | Effective consults | Efficiencies of the EMR | Practical cases and practice session

This event is of interest to urban practicing family physicians, rural and remote practicing family physicians and residents.

Objectives

Overall

By the end of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Explain the medical-legal requirements for physician competency in creating and maintaining transferable medical records. (Communicator, Leader, Professional)
  • Identify inclusive strategies that are fundamental to medical record keeping across all scopes of practice. (Communicator, Medical Expert)
  • Apply best practices in communications with other health care professionals. (Medical Expert, Collaborator, Scholar)
  • Implement a strategy in record keeping that align with the cadence of daily practice. (Leader, Communicator, Professional)

Individual Sessions

By the end of these sessions, participants should be able to:

  • Identify the CPSM Standards of Practice for Record Keeping. (Communicator, Professional)
  • Define the required elements of a medical record that applies to all scopes of practice. (Medical Expert, Communicator)
  • Formulate and apply best practices in writing a medical consultation. (Collaborator, Scholar)
  • Apply a strategy for effective use of the electronic medical record that ensures best practices. (Leader, Communicator)
  • Demonstrate standard of care through an ableism lens for medical record keeping utilizing interactive exercises. (Medical Expert, Communicator)

Participants are required to complete pre-workshop readings prior to attending the live session. The live session will be held digitally via Zoom.

Registration

$400.00 for all participants

This workshop will be delivered online via Zoom only. Connection details will be emailed to registered participants 24 hours in advance of the session date. 

The pre-workshop material will be provided to participants 1 week prior to the online session.

As Per CPD Medicine policy, the department requires any refund or cancelation request to be submitted in writing up to fourteen (14) days prior to the program start date . A $50 administrative fee will be withheld to cover transaction and administrative costs. Refund or cancelation requests made less than fourteen (14) days notice may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
