Morden Winkler Community Based CPD Program 2021-2022
Description
In order to address the unique clinical characteristics of each community, the Community Based CPD Program is offered in three locations*: Steinbach, Morden/Winkler and Thompson. A community physician for each location is appointed as program chair . These physicians identify the learning needs of their colleagues and work with the University of Manitoba, CPD Medicine Department to organize these events.

Practice quality improvement | Mental health (Borderline Personality Bipolar Affective Disorder; General Anxiety, Somatization Disorders) | Public Health Day- reporting diseases (STI’s and BBI) | COVID vaccine hesitancy | Womens health updates | Diagnosing skin cancer | Skin conditions in Women’s health | MiniMeds | Oncology
This program is of interest to rural primary care providers, interprofessional teams and residents.
The Community Based Program is supported by an unrestricted education grant from the MB Healthcare Providers Network.
Objectives
- Apply best practices in management of diabetic foot ulcers.
- Explain updates in the Canadian Cardiovascular Guidelines.
- Use strategies in discussing best choices in pharmacological management for common diseases with your patients.
- Identify barriers to Covid vaccine usage in patient populations and managing shared decision making.
- Identify and apply recent updates in common rheumatology guidelines and identify local resources for patient management.
Registration
This program series offers 7 sessions on the following dates:
November 4 and December 9, 2021. January 13, February 10, March 10, April 7 and May 12, 2022.
Physician Annual Fee – $895.00
Allied Health Professional Annual Fee – $375.00
Physician Single Session Fee – $175.00
Allied Health Professional Single Session Fee – $75.00
Resident/Student Single Session Fee – $30.00
This event is currently being held online. Connection details will be emailed to registered participants 24 hours prior to each event date.
As Per CPD Medicine policy, the department requires any refund or cancelation request to be submitted in writing up to fourteen (14) days prior to the program or session start date . A $50 administrative fee will be withheld to cover transaction and administrative costs. Refund or cancelation requests made less than fourteen (14) days notice may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Study Credits
This one-credit-per-hour Group Learning program meets the certification criteria of the College of Family Physicians of Canada and has been approved by the CPD Medicine Program, University of Manitoba for up to 4.0 Mainpro+ credits.
This event is an Accredited Group Learning Activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and approved by the CPD Medicine Program, University of Manitoba for a maximum of 4.0 hours.
Participants should only claim credit for the actual number of hours attended.
The University of Manitoba CPD Medicine Program is fully accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Continuing Medical Education (CACME).
