A primer for Opioid Agonist Therapy, focusing on the core approaches to managing and prescribing Suboxone and Methadone. An excellent start to understanding OAT through case discussion and didactic teaching.

 

Objectives:

At the conclusion of this learning event, participants will be able to:

  • Identify opioid use disorder in primary care.
  • Explain the model of addiction as a chronic disease, requiring long term management by health care professional(s) as well as mental health, spiritual and social support.
  • Perform a comprehensive assessment of an individual with opioid use disorder and select appropriate treatment options.
  • Recognize the unique pharmacology of methadone and buprenorphine/naloxone.

Registrants must complete the following required documentation:

  • Needs Assessment
  • Session Evaluation
  • MainPro+ Post-reflective Activity

These documents will be sent to registrants via email or handed out during the event.

Registration

Physician, Nurse Practitioner, Other Health Professions: $200.00

As Per CPD Medicine policy, the department requires any refund or cancelation request to be submitted in writing up to fourteen (14) days prior to the program or session start date . A $50 administrative fee will be withheld to cover transaction and administrative costs. Refund or cancelation requests made less than fourteen (14) days notice may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

This event is not available via MBTelehealth sites throughout Winnipeg and Manitoba and also not available via livestream.

Only paid registrants can receive credits and access speakers’ presentations post-event.

 

Credits:

Please be advised, in accordance with the new Mainpro+ standards, the College of Family Physicians of Canada requires that all participants are obliged to complete a post-reflective activity within 30 days of the activity in order to claim three credits per hour for the Skills Workshop. This post-reflective exercise will be emailed to participants the day of the activity.
