Trauma Resuscitation in Kids (TRIK) April 2018
Description
This two-day course starts with a review of the primary and secondary surveys and initial resuscitation including ample time to practice applying concepts learned. Delivery of the course consists of team-based high-fidelity simulation sessions, which are interspersed with short, small group, interactive case-based or didactic sessions and technical skills sessions for practicing procedures. Topics include head injury, airway management, upper body injuries, abdominal trauma, imaging interpretation and much more.
A certified instructor is provided for each module. The participant-to-instructor ratio is typically 6:1 or lower during the technical skills and simulation sessions.
An instructor course will be offered this year on the day preceding the provider course, and instructor candidates will then participate in delivering the provider course on the following two days. Space is limited to 12 participants in the instructor course and a total of 24 participants (including instructor candidates) in the provider course.
Target Audience
Custom designed for healthcare providers in Canada and abroad who manage pediatric trauma patients, with a focus on the leader and team roles.
