Goals & Objectives
This course aims to introduce emergency physicians to the performance of high-yield ultrasound-guided nerve blocks, including peripheral forearm, serratus plane and fascia iliaca blocks. Focus on block safety, appropriate needle guidance and ultrasound identification of relevant anatomy.
Format:
Learn the basics of nerve blocks for emergency physicians as a part of multi-modal analgesia. This session will involve hands on scanning of live models and hands on needle guidance practice on simulators and cadavers.
Pre-course preparation:
Pre course content will be provided to the participants upon registration.
Disclaimer:
This course will involve the use of cadavers to simulate the placement of nerve blocks. Please wear scrubs if possible.

Cost of registration is $800.00 per participant.
Location:
The Ultrasound Guided Nerve Blocks is delivered at the University of Manitoba’s Clinical Learning and Simulation Facility, located in the basement of the Brodie Centre and at the Anatomy Laboratory at 727 McDermot Avenue.
Cancellation Policy
The course is very resource intensive, with much effort being provided by the Department of Emergency Medicine. There are a limited number of spots for each course, and it can be difficult to find participants to fill spots that open up due to cancellation. In light of this, cancellation is nonrefundable.
