Description:
This 3-day, hands-on workshop, presented by CHI’s Data Science platform, will get you ready to do basic statistical analyses in R. We will discuss correlation, t-tests, odds ratios, chi-squared tests, and linear and logistic regression. More advanced methods may be introduced, including multiple regression and analysis of variance. Previous introductory experience with R (e.g., Using R for Data Wrangling) and at least a familiarity with basic statistical ideas will be assumed (e.g., a course in quantitative research methods or introductory statistics). Sessions will be held from 9am to 12pm (CT) on Monday, November 8th; Wednesday, November 10th, and Friday, November 12th.

Objectives:

Practice performing basic statistical analyses using R.

Review basics of statistical thinking: hypothesis tests, p-values, confidence intervals, etc.

Understand how and when to use t-tests, chi-square tests, linear and logistic regression, and how to interpret them.

Appreciation for situations where more advanced techniques might be appropriate.
