Panoramic Imaging: From Image Acquisition to Interpretation

Description
This course is intended to provide participants with an understanding of how panoramic images are formed to understand how to properly position a patient in the panoramic unit. During this interactive session, we will also learn how to identify and correct positioning error, identify normal radiographic anatomy on panoramic images and interpret common radiographic findings by presenting several cases. We will also discuss how to use a systemic approach to image interpretation.

At the end of the course, the participant will be able to:
- understand the principle of panoramic image formation
- know ideal patient positioning in the panoramic unit
- identify positioning error of the panoramic image
- identify normal anatomy
- interpret common radiographic finding
Speaker
Dr. Catherine Nolet-Lévesque DMD, MSc, FRCD(C), dip. ABOMR
Dr. Catherine Nolet-Lévesque received her dental degree from the Université Laval in 2010. Dr. Nolet-Lévesque completed her general practice residency at McGill University Montreal Children’s Hospital. She also completed a Master’s degree in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology at the University of Toronto, and a fellowship in education at the Women’s College Hospital. Dr. Nolet-Lévesque is also a professor in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology at Laval University where she oversees the undergraduate curriculum and participates in teaching various post-graduate programs. She is a fellow of the Royal College of Dentist of Canada and board-certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology (ABOMR).
